Ni-Mo-Cr Grade Trading

Hastelloy C276 & C22
Scrap Buyer

ABCOM buys Hastelloy C-family scrap from chemical plants, FGD systems and pharmaceutical facilities worldwide — compositional verification at our Singapore and Kocaeli facilities, global logistics included.

Grade Overview

The Chemical Industry's Armour

Hastelloy C276 is the benchmark nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy for the most aggressive chemical service — wet chlorine gas, hypochlorite, acids across a broad pH range. Its roughly 16% molybdenum and 4% tungsten content is exactly what makes both the alloy and its scrap valuable: those elements are expensive, scarce, and in constant demand from alloy producers.

C22 shifts the balance toward chromium for oxidising media and appears in newer chemical plant builds, pollution control and pharmaceutical equipment. Both grades are specified where failure is not an option, which means the installed base — reactors, heat exchangers, scrubbers, transfer piping — keeps generating high-value scrap for decades.

For sellers, the recurring trap is dilution: carbon steel fittings welded to C276 plate, stainless mixed into turnings, or C-family material blended with Inconel 718 and 625. Sorted at source, each stream earns its full value; blended, the whole lot prices at a discount. Our grading process protects you from that loss — see our grading & valuation guide.

Where Hastelloy Scrap Flows From

Chemical and petrochemical plant turnarounds and decommissionings across the GCC, India and Southeast Asia generate significant C-family volumes. Flue gas desulphurisation retrofits in power generation, pharmaceutical API plants, and pulp & paper bleaching systems complete the picture. ABCOM's Singapore trading desk and Turkish processing base sit directly on these flow routes.

For plant owners and contractors, we provide lot inspection, compositional certificates, and export documentation as part of the purchase — removing the compliance friction that usually slows down specialty alloy disposal. Material that cannot be sold as C276 or C22 is re-graded honestly and priced transparently, never downgraded by surprise.

Common Questions

Hastelloy Scrap FAQ

What is Hastelloy C276 scrap worth?

C276 carries one of the highest molybdenum and tungsten contents of any common scrap grade, which keeps its re-melt value consistently high. Value depends on form — clean plate and solids out-earn turnings — and on how free the material is from steel fittings and weld filler. Contact our desk with quantity and photographs for a current indication.

How do C276 and C22 differ?

Both are nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloys, but C276 carries more molybdenum and tungsten, while C22 has a higher chromium content for oxidising media. In scrap form they are frequently mixed; XRF sorting at our facilities separates them so each grade re-enters the correct melt programme at full value.

What forms of Hastelloy scrap do you buy?

Plate and sheet offcuts, pipe and tube, fittings and flanges, reactor and vessel sections, heat exchanger bundles, turnings and machining swarf, plus weld wire and overlay offcuts. Decommissioned chemical plant equipment is a common source we handle end to end.

Do you buy Hastelloy from decommissioned plants?

Yes. Plant dismantling streams across the Gulf, India, Europe and North America are a steady source. We can arrange site inspection, container loading supervision and shipping documentation, handling the lot from plant floor to mill delivery.

How should I prepare material before sale?

Remove carbon steel attachments and non-alloy weld filler where practical, keep C-family material separate from stainless and Inconel, and retain form identity — solids and turnings are priced differently. Even modest preparation measurably improves returns.
